Hot Bed Press
The Casket Works, Cow Lane, Salford, M5 4ST
Based on the remaining industrial buildings of Salford, Hilary’s series of outdoor public art works act as functioning nesting boxes for bird and insect populations negatively impacted by the fast pace of regeneration in the city; and as a signifier for core BAS9 and A Modest Show venues.
Hot Bed Press is one of the largest open access print workshops in the UK, with the best equipment for screenprint, etching, relief print, book arts, letterpress and lots more besides. Membership is open to anyone with a basic knowledge of printmaking. We also run a wide range of beginner and masterclasses across the year suited to all abilities, so anyone can learn to print with us and become a member.
We are open Monday to Friday 10.00am-4.00pm, plus late night Thursdays to 9.00pm and alternate Saturdays 10.00am – 4.00pm.
We have an annual open studio & ‘under-the-bed sale’ plus exhibitions and events on our ground floor gallery as well as showing nationally at art and print fairs. Hot Bed Press works with universities, schools and colleges to educate, support and promote printmaking . We also support artists through the provision of 21 artists’ studios in our building.
Unfortunately our first floor workshop does not yet have accessible lifts/wheelchair access.
The ground floor gallery is wheelchair accessible, (with a 20cm small step at the front entrance), but there are no ground floor toilets.
[Plans for development towards fully accessible premises are in place requiring funding as we continue to improve and develop our building.]
